Who controls the family account

A parent or legal guardian creates and controls a family account. The parent must review LearnVerity with the student before enrollment and confirm that they have authority to enroll the device. The initial family release supports students ages 13–17; under-13 use is not enabled. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@learnverity.com.

Information LearnVerity collects

• Parent account: verified email address, optional display name, sign-in identifiers, and account status.
• Student profile: a parent-provided nickname, age band, school level, timezone, and consent records.
• Enrolled device: a one-way device fingerprint, device model label, enrollment status, app version, and last check-in time.
• Supported-app activity: the supported AI app's name and activity observation times (not reliable session duration or exact opening counts), and a random event identifier used to prevent duplicates.
• Coverage: whether required Android access and notifications are on, when a gap was detected, when it was restored, and the resulting duration.
• Student-initiated study support: when the student separately chooses to share after building a private guide, the assignment area, chosen study goal, broad guidance focus, and sharing time. The assignment directions, rewritten prompt, and response-language preference are excluded.
• Learning check-ins: student-selected subject, goal, understanding, practice, requested support, sharing scope, review identifier, consent version and time. Parent-only is the default. Teacher permission on a check-in allows the parent to preview it and share a report with a teacher who accepted an emailed invitation. Teacher access is bound to the authenticated account and verified invited email. We store invitation status, email preferences, acceptance times, selected report identifiers and sharing/withdrawal records. Emails require parent permission and teacher opt-in; they contain only parent-shared learning categories. Private parent notes and phone activity are excluded. Export records identify the parent, student, contact and time; received copies cannot be recalled.
• Family tools: parent-written context, saved questions, summary preferences, shared norms and family agreement. Only shared norms and the agreement are returned to the student app.
• Communications and security: setup-code records, alert-delivery status, support messages, and ordinary security logs needed to protect the service.

Private content excluded from LearnVerity reports and backend storage

The LearnVerity backend does not receive raw AI prompts, AI answers, chat messages, screenshots, screen recordings, typed text, keystrokes, microphone audio, precise location, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or activity from unsupported apps and websites. The Android service cannot retrieve screen content and cannot click, type, block, close, or control another app.

Optional student reflections stay on the student device. The private study helper uses directions, a question and an optional attempt in temporary screen memory. Working text and generated prompts are not uploaded, logged, emailed or included in adult reports. The new Android source adds local text-file and selected-photo intake; this requires the matching app update. The separate sharing action sends only the categories previewed. Family preferences, parent context and saved questions are stored in the authenticated family account. Shared norms and the family agreement are also returned to the student app; private parent context is excluded.

Optional photo text reading in the next Android app

The new student-app source uses a bundled Google ML Kit text reader for a photo deliberately selected by the student. Photo and recognized-text processing happens on the phone; neither is sent to Google or LearnVerity servers. This is not continuous screenshot capture or access to the photo library. The working draft is cleared on leaving the screen; the original file remains on the phone. Copied text may remain on the clipboard.

Google ML Kit sends device and app information, per-installation identifiers, API configuration and usage/performance diagnostics to Google. This can include input/output sizes and error codes, but not the photo or recognized words. Reading is optional and starts only when requested. How information is used

• Verify the parent email and connect an enrolled student device to the correct family.
• Show recent supported-app activity and device coverage in the secure parent dashboard.
• Email setup codes, coverage alerts, restoration notices, and the parent's requested nightly summary.
• Operate, secure, troubleshoot, prevent duplicate events, and improve LearnVerity.
• Respond to support, privacy, security, and account-deletion requests.

LearnVerity does not sell family data, use it for targeted advertising, or use student activity to train advertising profiles.

Providers that help operate LearnVerity

LearnVerity uses OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure for hosting and encrypted database storage, Clerk for parent sign-in, and Resend for transactional email. These providers process information only to provide their contracted services and under their own security and privacy commitments. LearnVerity may also disclose information when required by law or to protect users and the service.

Parent choices and deletion

A verified parent can request access, correction, or deletion by emailing privacy@learnverity.com from the family account email. Include only the parent email and whether the request covers one student or the whole family. We verify requests before acting and aim to complete verified deletion requests within 30 days. Provider backup copies age out under the provider's protected backup schedule.

Retention, security, and international processing

LearnVerity keeps account and activity information while the family account is active and as needed to deliver the service, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, meet legal obligations, and honor deletion requests. One-time setup codes expire after 15 minutes. Data is encrypted in transit; device credentials are encrypted with the Android Keystore when available; and service secrets are kept outside the application source code.

LearnVerity is operated from the United States, and providers may process information in the United States or other locations where they operate. No security method can guarantee zero risk, so parents should use a secure email account and protect access to the parent dashboard.

Changes and contact
