You do not need to be an AI expert.
Start with your family connection. LearnVerity helps you understand what was observed, what your child says they need, and what to talk about next.
Your first setup
You need your email inbox and your child’s Android phone. The parent dashboard works on a phone, tablet or computer. Student enrollment currently supports ages 13–17.
Open your parent account
Open the parent portal and sign in. Use the same email for every step. You can return here whenever you need help.
Connect the student phone
Open LearnVerity Student on your child’s Android phone. Enter your parent email, use the six-digit code from your inbox, and review the setup with your child.
Where do I get the student app?
Use the installation link supplied with your family beta access. If you do not have it, request the installation link. A website update does not update an already installed student app.
What do the Android permissions mean?
Accessibility lets the current app observe activity in supported AI apps. It does not read their screen text or control those apps. Notifications keep the service visible. Follow the phone’s setup buttons, then return to LearnVerity to check the connection. With the updated app, connection-only mode can check in without Accessibility. Android power settings or lost internet can delay background checks, so a gap is not proof the student changed anything.
Choose a simple family routine
In Family settings, choose connection status only or observations from selected supported apps. Then choose an evening, morning or weekend summary. Add one agreement, such as “Ask for a hint first and follow your teacher’s rules.” Select Save family settings.
What do Steady, Attentive and Focused change?
They change which facts and conversation ideas are emphasized. They do not turn on access to messages, photos or other private content. Reporting scope is a separate setting: connection-only gives less detail; selected app observations reveal some routine. Neither reads private conversations. Check “Applied on the phone” to confirm the updated app received your choice.
Try one useful check-in
Ask your child to try Get study help, then optionally send a Learning check-in. Return to the dashboard to see what arrived. A quiet timeline alone does not mean the student did or did not use AI.
What your report means
Supported app activity and whether reporting was connected. This cannot tell us what the student asked.
What they wanted help with, what they tried and what support they want next. These are their own answers.
A question or practice idea based on the available information. It is not a grade or a cheating verdict.
Show me a simple example
Illustration: “Your child shared that they tried a math problem and would like a hint. Ask which step feels unclear, then let them try a similar problem.” This example is not a real student report.
Ask for help that leaves room for your thinking.
Add your question
In Get study help, type your question or directions. Add what you have tried if you want more relevant wording. The updated study helper also accepts local .txt and .md files; update the student app if those buttons are missing.
Choose the right kind of help
Choose an explanation, independent practice, a reasoning check or a short study plan. Tell the helper whether your teacher allows AI. If AI is not allowed, it offers a study plan without an AI prompt.
Review, then choose what to do
The helper builds a learning-focused prompt on your phone. It does not solve the assignment or chat with an AI tutor. If permitted, copy it into your chosen AI app. That app then receives the text and has its own privacy rules.
Can I use a photo of my work?
Photo import and optional on-phone text reading are coming in the next Android update. They need the matching updated app; existing installed betas do not gain this from a website update. Check extracted words before using them. This is text reading, not reliable interpretation of handwriting, formulas or diagrams. PDF and Word imports are not supported; paste the relevant text.
What happens to my working text or photo?
The private draft is cleared when you leave the screen. The original file on your phone remains. Copied text can remain on the clipboard. Optional photo reading uses Google ML Kit locally; Google receives SDK diagnostics, but not the photo or recognized text. A separate sharing button previews the limited learning categories sent to your parent.
An invitation, a choice, then a useful learning summary.
Ask the parent to invite your school email
The parent enters your email under Teachers and selects Send invitation. A student can also suggest your email or show a request QR, but the parent must approve that request before an invitation is sent.
Accept or decline
Open the invitation email and sign in with the same verified email. Choose Accept invitation or Decline. Opening the email does not accept it. You can also choose whether to receive summary emails.
Open your teacher dashboard
After acceptance, the parent previews a learning report and shares it specifically with you. Your dashboard shows only those student-permitted check-ins and useful next-step ideas. Private family notes, phone activity and assignment text are excluded.
Who controls emails and access?
Summary emails require both the parent’s permission and your opt-in. They follow the family’s chosen summary rhythm and include only parent-shared reports. Either of you can stop emails or end the connection. A parent can withdraw dashboard reports; already received copies cannot be recalled.
What if I do not see a report?
Check the email you signed in with, whether you accepted, and whether the parent shared a report. The student’s check-in must permit teacher sharing. If the parent pauses teacher sharing, reports are hidden. Invitations expire after seven days; the parent can resend one.
What about a whole school or district?
Family invitations connect individual teachers with individual families. Enterprise onboarding will have a separate district administrator setup for schools, classes, assigned roles, sign-in and retention rules. That district system is being developed; a family invitation does not grant school-wide access. Explore district setup.
Something not working?
The phone is connected, but I see no activity
Check that the same parent email was used, the phone has internet access, and required permissions are on. Open Family connection on the student app and choose Refresh. Only supported app observations appear; the app cannot see every AI website or device.
I did not receive the code or summary
Check spam and the email spelling. A setup code expires after 15 minutes. For missing summaries, check your chosen schedule and any delivery-status message in the portal. You can still review received device updates there.
I need more help
Open support. Include the app version and the step that failed. Do not send passwords, setup codes or private student work.
